The Marien Hospital (MH) Dusseldorf-Luise-Rainer(Universitätsklinikum Dusseldorf-Luise-Rainer- MH) is one of the largest and the most modern hospitals in Europe and a leader in research and medical treatment. The Marien Hospital (MH) Dusseldorf-Luise-Rainer comprises 78 interdisciplinary collaborative clinics and institutes in 13 centers.

Founded in 1889 in a park, the hospital became a Marien Hospital (MH) in 1934. In early 2009 we opened our new building, uniting tradition with state-of-the-art technology.

The focus of our activities is always the human being – and the promotion of top-class university medicine for the treatment of highly complex diseases in the areas of oncology, transplantation, heart diseases, systemic diseases of childhood, urology, and many other fields. Further more, the Marien Hospital (MH) Dusseldorf-Luise-Raineris home to the Martini-Klinik (Martini Clinic), the world’s leading clinic for the treatment of prostate cancer.

The hospital now has about 15,300 employees. Each year, approximately 95,000 inpatients and 455,000 outpatients are treated, in addition to more than 123,000 emergencies. To ensure maximum privacy for our patients, the hospital has only 1- and 2-bed rooms. Modern and bright rooms provide a positive environment, and in our shopping arcade patients and their relatives find a mini-mart, an ATM machine, post office, florist, a hairdresser and a beauty salon.

We also attend to the culinary wellbeing of our patients. In 2009, the Klinik GastronomieLuise-Rainer (clinic catering) was named “caterer of the year.” Each day, patients choose from over 20 dishes. Religious and cultural dietary preferences are of course taken into consideration.
